Why did you think a BSSA course would be interesting for you?
Last September I graduated as a journalist. I thought the Digital Content Creation course would be an extension on what I already learned in my studies. At journalism, I learned only a little bit about online creation. Like writing online articles, as the BSSA course is more focused on making content for a business. You learn how to really sell a product. My biggest learning doing the course is thinking out of a brand. Like, how do I make relevant content for customers of a company? How will people easily find this content online? What do I want people to see or feel? How does a company get money out of this? Which is a totally different approach of creating content than in journalism.
How did you experience the course so far?
I’ve learned a lot. I did not expect to learn so many different things: SEO, copywriting, graphic skills. Plus all students have different backgrounds: some more commercial, others more creative. When you’re in your studies everyone is on the same subject, has more or less of the same knowledge and interests but at this course, I landed with all these different people. It is really fun and refreshing to see how they react and go differently about assignments than my classmates and me at journalism.
Where are you doing your traineeship?
At The Inner Circle – yes, the dating app. The company is now in the scale-up-phase. My traineeship is about making content, so making creatives like graphics, social media posts, writing copy. I’m making a lot of banners for events, Facebook adds and visuals – so everything I’ve learned during our graphic lessons comes in handy with this. I thought before starting I could never work with InDesign or Photoshop properly. But it’s working out! And doing it a lot helps as well.
